During our Galapagos adventure, we stayed at Hotel Galapagos Planet in San Cristóbal. The hotel proved to be an excellent home base for exploring this incredible island. Located just a short walk from the town’s bustling waterfront, the hotel offered a mix of comfort, convenience, and charm that made our stay unforgettable.
Hotel Galapagos Planet – Comfortable Rooms
Upon arrival, we were greeted with warm smiles and a refreshing tropical juice, a small but thoughtful touch that set the tone for our visit. The hotel has a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere, blending perfectly with the island’s vibe. Our room was clean, featuring air conditioning—a must-have in the Galapagos heat—and modern amenities like Wi-Fi. The comfortable bed and calming décor made it a great place to recharge. After days of hiking, snorkeling, and wildlife spotting it was a welcome retreat. After spending several days in the Amazon without air conditioning, it felt like a luxury.
The room itself was merely adequate. Nothing exceptional. It was clean and tidy, yet cramped. The bathroom and shower could use some updating. The public balcony was a highlight, providing a quiet spot to enjoy a morning coffee or relax in the evening. From our perch, we could listen to the distant sounds of sea lions and waves crashing on the shore. The hotel staff were attentive and accommodating, always ready to help with directions or recommendations for local dining and activities.
Location, Location, Location
Hotel Galapagos Planet enjoys a decent location (although everything is walking distance in the small waterfront community). The hotel is just minutes from the waterfront, shops, and restaurants of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. We loved the convenience of being able to stroll to the nearby pier to watch playful sea lions or browse local boutiques for souvenirs.
The hotel has a small gift shop for any last minute gifts you might need. The gift shop also had a small coffee bar where guests can fix a cup of coffee before finding a quiet spot to relax. The prices of the gift shop, like all gift shops in the Galapagos, were a bit inflated. I wouldn’t call the prices outrageous, but would rather just suggest buying Galapagos themed gifts in Quito or Guayaquil.
Final Thoughts on Hotel Galapagos Planet
Our stay at Hotel Galapagos Planet added a layer of comfort and ease to our unforgettable Galapagos journey. With its friendly service, comfortable accommodations, and unbeatable location, the hotel was an ideal base for exploring the wonders of San Cristóbal. There were some children enjoying the pool the day before we left, but we didn’t have an opportunity to spend any time at the pool as our trip was packed with adventure.
