Lunch at Miconia in San Cristóbal: Great Food and Ambience

After a morning of snorkeling, we found ourselves ready for a hearty lunch. Miconia, a well-loved spot in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, offered the perfect combination of local flavors and a laid-back island atmosphere. Our dining experience here was as much about the ambiance as it was about the delicious food. We took a seat with an unobstructed view of the water to enjoy our meal.

Coastal Charm Meets Island Flavors

We found Miconia just steps from the waterfront. The location offers stunning views of the bay and the occasional sea lion lounging nearby. We enjoyed the restaurant’s relaxed vibe which immediately put us at ease, with its open-air seating and rustic decor reflecting the laid-back nature of the Galápagos.

Miconia menu

The menu at Miconia features a mix of Ecuadorian dishes and international fare, catering to a variety of tastes. For our meal, we opted for the lunch special (menu del dia). This included a choice of fish or chicken, fries, salad and a drink. Every bite was bursting with flavor, showcasing the freshness of the ingredients and the simple yet thoughtful preparation.

Highlights of the Meal

I opted for the chicken, while my wife and son selected the fish. The service was a bit on the slow side, considering we were the only diners. This also meant our meal was served fresh and hot. The dishes were delicious and surprisingly affordable. The menu del dia is priced at $13, making this a delicious meal and great value.

A Perfect Island Retreat

What made our lunch at Miconia truly special was the relaxed pace and friendly service. The staff were welcoming and attentive, happy to provide recommendations and share a bit about the local cuisine. Sitting under the shade with a refreshing drink in hand, we enjoyed a leisurely meal while taking in the coastal breeze and the sounds of the bustling harbor.

Blue Footed Booby hunting nearby

Miconia served good food, had fair prices and offered us a chance to soak in the essence of San Cristóbal’s coastal charm. This included watching a blue footed booby diving for its lunch while we enjoyed our own! Whether you’re craving fresh seafood or simply looking for a scenic spot to unwind, this restaurant offers a delightful island dining experience.
