Which eSIM worked better in Ecuador: Kolet or Jetpac?

Kolet eSIM

Traveling through Ecuador, including the stunning Galapagos Islands, connectivity was a priority for staying in touch and navigating new places. During this trip, I used two eSIM options: Kolet and Jetpac. While one proved reliable, the other fell short, offering a learning experience in choosing the right eSIM for travel.

Kolet eSIM: Reliable and Hassle-Free

Setting up Kolet was straightforward, with clear instructions guiding the installation process on my phone. Once activated, the service kicked in seamlessly, providing solid connectivity throughout Ecuador and even in the remote Galapagos. Whether using navigation apps in Quito, checking local recommendations in Guayaquil, or sharing breathtaking photos from the Galapagos, Kolet delivered dependable coverage. It wasn’t flawless, but the service quality was consistently good, which made it a reliable travel companion.

I did have initial issues with my settings. The app had a walk-through guide with images that helped me get my settings sorted out. It was far superior to my experience with Jetpac. It was a low risk endeavor as Kolet offered a free GB for new users, unlike Jetpac, which charges before you ever get the opportunity to test it.

Jetpac eSIM: A Disappointing Experience

Unfortunately, my experience with Jetpac was the opposite. Despite following setup instructions multiple times, I was never able to get the eSIM to work. Technical issues prevented activation, leaving me unable to test its service in Ecuador. While their concept is appealing, the lack of functionality made it unusable, adding frustration rather than convenience.

I also paid for the service and lost my money in the process. Luckily, I only paid one dollar for 1GB on a promotion, because I was concerned about coverage and setup for both apps. The second advantage of Kolet was that I received the first GB free, which allowed me to download without any risk. It ended up being a good strategy for Kolet as I added more data after the first GB was used up.

Why Connectivity Matters

Reliable connectivity is crucial for modern travelers, especially in destinations as diverse as Ecuador. From urban centers to the remote Galapagos, having functional internet ensures smooth navigation, quick access to local information, and staying connected with loved ones. Kolet’s performance underscored the importance of choosing a tested and reliable eSIM provider.

Lessons Learned

This experience highlighted the variability in eSIM performance and the importance of researching providers before travel. While Kolet proved to be a dependable option, Jetpac’s failure served as a reminder to have a backup plan, such as another eSIM or local SIM, in case of technical hiccups.

Final Thoughts on Kolet vs. Jetpac

If you’re planning a trip to Ecuador, I recommend Kolet for a hassle-free and reliable eSIM experience. It worked well across the country and in the Galapagos, ensuring I stayed connected throughout my travels. As for Jetpac, I hope they address their technical issues, but for now, I’d advise against relying on them for essential connectivity.

Traveling with dependable tech is part of creating a smooth and enjoyable journey. For me, Kolet was an invaluable tool that enhanced my experience in Ecuador and beyond.
